Wedding season is upon us! The last few weeks have been busy with driving around Essex-County to do makeup for bridal parties, and there’s something so exciting and fun about being apart of a bride’s day! With some of my own friends’ weddings coming up this summer, I wanted to find some perfect outfit ideas for those who are struggling with what to wear to a summer wedding. This is the first of two dresses that I’ll be showcasing over the next few weeks, hoping to inspire those that need a little more direction in finding wedding guest attire options.
This first dress is a good option for a winery wedding, an occasion that definitely falls between the casual and formal dress code. Unless specified as a “black tie” event, one could opt to wear lighter colours and fabrics as these make for a great daytime wedding look. If you have a collection of dresses to wear, you might consider changing into something else for the reception, but usually, friends and family would rather head to cocktail hour to enjoy themselves! If your invitation does indicate “black tie”, stay tuned for my upcoming post for another wedding guest edition on formal wear.
This J.O.A. dress from Nordstrom was the most suitable pick for a summer wedding because it’s light, airy, soft, and pretty! The off the shoulder accent and tied waist really accentuate the smallest part of your body, all while still being able to eat, drink, and celebrate the new Mr. & Mrs.!
You’ll notice that I changed my shoe choice throughout this post. I did this because each pair of shoes provided a varied look. This periwinkle blue-suede pointed heel gave more ceremony vibes, whereas the gold sandal was something I would consider changing into for the reception. Not only is the heel height smaller, but the sandal allows for your perfectly manicured toes to be shown off!
This grey suede handbag is from TopShop and is a dupe of the Chloé Faye small shoulder bag, only for a fraction of the price! This shade of grey allows for it to be dressed up, or down, and definitely fits all of your wedding guest evening must-haves. These can include your favourite lipstick or gloss, your phone and some kleenex for when you get teary eyed during the ceremony!
I knew when Vicki Bartel and I discussed this photoshoot that needed some of Thiessen’s Flower Shop’s beautiful peonies! They are one of my favourite flowers (aren’t they everyone’s?) and they added the perfect feminine touch to the photoshoot.
These are the alternate option of footwear that I paired with the J.O.A. dress. The gold hue of these Nine West sandals work with a variety of items, including this flowy summer dress. Even though 3 or 4-inch heels always look stunning, I know that if I’m not comfortable, I won’t have a good time! These are only a 2-inch heel and that suits me just fine since I stand at 5’8″ without shoes anyway!
We had to pop by Olinda-Ruthven United Church to snag a few photos in front of their magnolia tree. Spring is such a beautiful season and I’m so thankful for all of the fresh blooms brightening up our yards!
